The NCCARF team is very saddened to hear news of the death of Stephen Schneider.Just over two weeks ago Stephen delivered a keynote address at the 2010 International Climate Change Adaptation Conference at the Gold Coast. Stephen had an innate ability to engage, inform and challenge people about the reality of climate change and the urgency of the need to respond.
May 7: Call for proposals for Synthesis and Integrative Research Program
Under Phase 2 of the NCCARF Synthesis and Integrative Research Program, NCCARF is opening a call for proposals to undertake the following projects:- Limits to adaptation
- Learning from regional climate analogues: Part I
- Coastal ecosystems response to climate change
- Climate change impacts literature review

Mar 26: Funding available for Marine Biodiversity & Resources research
Minister for Climate Change, Energy Efficiency and Water the Hon Penny Wong and Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry the Hon Tony Burke today released the National Climate Change Adaptation Research Plan: Marine Biodiversity and Resources and announced the allocation of $5.5 million funding for research that meets the priorities identified in the Plan.The Plan identifies five main areas for investigation:

Comments on the draft National Climate Change Adaptation Research Plan: Primary Industries have now closed. The Writing Team is reviewing all submissions and developing a revised version.Dec 8: Research funding for Health Challenges of Climate Change now available
Please note this funding call has now closed. Applications are being considered and successful applicants will be notified by the NHMRC.
The National Health and Medical Research Council is working with NCCARF and the Department of Climate Change to identify and support research to address the health challenges from global climate change, specifically: Dec 8: Marie Curie International Research Staff Exchange Scheme opens
The European Commission has opened a new call for the Marie Curie International Research Staff Exchange Scheme (IRSES) targeting projects starting at the end of 2010.
Nov 27:'Report Card' released for Australia's marine environment
The first-ever Australian benchmark of climate change impacts on marine ecosystems and options for adaptation was released in Brisbane in November.The Marine Climate Change Impacts and Adaptation Report Card for Australia, and an accompanying website, will provide a biennial guide for scientists, government and the community on observed and projected impacts of climate change on marine ecosystems.

Adaptation Research Network for Primary Industries host announced
The Australian Government Department of Climate Change has announced that the NCCARF Adaptation Research Network for Primary Industries will be hosted by the University of Melbourne.
The University of Melbourne was selected through an open call for expressions of interest, following the closure of the previous Network host, Land and Water Australia.

31 August: Registration opens for International Climate Change Adaptation Conference 2010
Registrations are now open for Climate Adaptation Futures: Preparing for the unavoidable impacts of climate change conference to be held on Queensland's Gold Coast from 29 June - 1 July 2010. This landmark event is presented by the National Climate Change Adaptation Research Facility and CSIRO Climate Adaptation Flagship.

February 2009: $10 million for research into Health and Climate Change
Minister for Climate Change and Water, Senator Penny Wong has just announced a funding package of $10 million towards health and climate change research.

Senator The Hon. Penny Wong, Minister for Water and Climate Change has approved the National Adaptation Research Plan for Human Health.
Jan 2009: Adaptation Research Network Hosts Announced
Funding of up to $10 million is being provided over five years to support eight Adaptation Research Networks. The research networks will form part of the National Climate Change Adaptation Research Facility and will work with the Facility to advance regional and sectoral knowledge about climate change impacts and vulnerability and adaptation options, and to foster an inclusive collaborative research environment, through:
