National Climate Change Adaptation Research Plan for Emergency Management - Revised 2012
The National Climate Change Research Plan for Emergency Management was updated in 2012 by a writing team comprising John Handmer (Chair), Richard McKellar, Blythe McLennan, Joshua Whittaker, Briony Towers, James Duggie and Martine Woolf.
The purpose of the update was to ensure the NARP is up-to-date and thus able to provide guidance for research investment for the coming five years. The update is informed by a comprehensive review of the literature undertaken since December 2008 when the NARP was originally drafted (Handmer et al. 2011) and input from the Emergency Management Research Network and from key stakeholders. Experience gained from emergencies associated with extreme weather events between 2009 and 2011 was also taken into account, as was current NCCARF and other research that focusses on the research priorities of the original Emergency Management NARP. This information was used to prepare an ‘Update Report’ (Handmer et al. 2012) for the Emergency Management NARP, which was a major contributor to this revised Emergency Management NARP (2012).
