We have finalised arrangements for the Climate Adaptation 2018 conference, to be held in Melbourne, 8 – 10 May 2018. The call for abstracts opens on 3 October 2017 and closes 2 February 2018. For more information, see here.
We have added a new video to the CoastAdapt website. In June 2017, NCCARF travelled to beautiful Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory at the invitation of staff at the Anindilyakwa Land Council. Along with Travis Sydes from the Far North Queensland Regional Organisation of Councils, we held an information sharing workshop to talk about climate change and sea level rise. The day saw us head to the beach and mark out sea-level rise projections in the sand. Friend of NCCARF and filmmaker, Victor Steffensen (Mulong) filmed the day and has produced a short video ‘Changing climate, changing sea: A message from Anindilyakwa’.
A draft paper has been prepared on risk assessment in CoastAdapt, and this has been submitted to the journal Climatic Change for review.
The IPCC has approved the outlines of the three Working Group reports for the Sixth Assessment. The approved outline for Working Group II (Impacts, Adaptation and Vulnerability) can be accessed here. The next step is the call for Coordinating Lead Authors, Lead Authors and Review Editors, which opened on 15 September and closes on 27 October.
The University of East Anglia (Norwich, UK) School of Environmental Sciences is advertising for a lecturer in Climate Science, with a focus on climate services. The post is full-time and indefinite. Closing date for applications 13 October 2017.
