The Call for Abstracts for the Climate Adaptation 2018 conference, to be held in Melbourne 8-10 May 2018, is open. The conference is jointly hosted by NCCARF and Engineers Australia.

Job opening
The Climate and Health Alliance is looking for a new Executive Director, to be based in Melbourne. Closing date for applications 17 November.

International news
The 23rd Conference of Parties (COP23) of the UNFCCC takes place on 6-17 November in Bonn, Germany. The WMO released its provisional Statement on the State of the Climate on the opening day, indicating that 2017 is very likely to be one of the three hottest years on record.

The United States has released its Climate Science Special Report, part of the Fourth National Climate Assessment. This concludes that ‘it is extremely likely that human influence has been the dominant cause of the observed warming since the mid-20th century’.

The Adaptation Futures conference, to be held in Cape Town 18-21 June 2018, will open for abstracts on 1 December 2017.
