Regional Climate Change Risk Assessment & Adaptation Planning Initiative: LGA Local Profiles

A collection of climate change projections for sub regions and towns involved in the Hunter, Central and Lower North Coast Region of NSW climate change study. The results are based on projections using statistical downscaling of the CSIRO Mk3.5 climate change model. Towns studied include Cessnock, Dungog, Gloucester, Gosford, Greater Taree, Great Lakes, Lake Macquarie, Maitland, Muswellbrook, Newcastle, Port Stephens, Singleton, Upper Hunter, and Wyong.

Climate Change Impact for the Hunter, Lower North Coast and Central Coast Region of NSW

This study on the potential climate change risks for the Hunter, Central and Lower North Coast Region of NSW. It uses climate change data from the University of Newcastle, based on the CSIRO MK3.5 model which has been statistically downscaled. A process known as self organising mapping was used to identify the main climate drivers in the region. The results of the impact analysis is described using four case studies: the viticulture industry; human health concerns related to extreme heat events; bushfire weather; and, coastal impacts of extreme events.
