Sea Level Rise Adaptation Policy
Norm led the development and application of the council’s Sea Level Rise Adaptation Policy.
He contributed significantly to organising and coordinating the recent NSW Coastal Conference in Batemans Bay, which featured a range of high-quality speakers and presentations.
Norm has also volunteered his time and expertise in assisting with a Department of Climate Change and Energy Efficiency-funded project exploring the trade-offs between coastal ecosystems and urban development in the context of coastal urban squeeze.
He was nominated for the award by CSIRO Ecosystem Sciences, with whom he works closely to ensure research is relevant and useful to support local decision making.

2011 NCCARF Climate Adaptation Champions
A Queensland farmer, a Tasmanian journalist and a council planner from mid-coast NSW were among NCCARF’s first Climate Adaptation Champions.
