Biodiversity and ecosystems sector adaptation plan

Invitation to contribute to Queensland’s Biodiversity and Ecosystems Climate Adaptation Plan (B&E CAP)

The Queensland Government Department of Environment and Science (DES) has engaged the National Climate Change Adaptation Research Facility (NCCARF) and consultant Cath Moran to facilitate the development of a Biodiversity and Ecosystems Climate Adaptation Plan for Queensland (B&E CAP). We are inviting relevant stakeholders like you that are managing biodiversity and ecosystems to be involved in consultation. Consultation included face-to-face workshops in Cairns (7th June), and Brisbane (13th June), an on-line interactions session (TBC) and an online survey (now closed).

In order to provide a background to this project we have prepared a discussion paper that introduces the purpose, process and rationale for the development of the B&E CAP for Queensland. It provides an overview of the literature in relation to risks and opportunities associated with the biodiversity and ecosystem impacts of climate change. It outlines existing relevant policy, and identifies a framework for responding to the impacts of climate change on biodiversity and ecosystems.
