Climate Scenarios
Assessments of the impact of projected climate change on water resources and freshwater biodiversity rely on global climate models (GCMs) to produce climate change scenarios. From a hydrological and ecological viewpoint, the utility of existing GCMs is limited by their spatial and temporal resolution, in particular they need to be down scaled to a more realistic regional level where management decisions are being made.
