- Major role will be leading the exploration of the implications of climate change and development of adaptive strategies for the densely populated coastal zone (including open coasts and estuaries), and modeling urban adaptations outcomes from climate change projections.
- The coastline, communities and infrastructure at risk is extensive. There are already a large number of active researchers engaged across the network within this node.
- The key issues of risk and vulnerability to extremes in natural climate variability and to long-term climate change are being addressed.
- These issues will underpin future adaptation strategies for coastal community in regards to the need to manage the changes through coastal protection technologies or through social-economic, planning, governance and institutional adaptation strategies.
