Prof. Havemann is professor in the School of Law. He is currently working on the place of a human rights based approach to climate change governance locally and globally. His particular focus is on the rights of Indigenous peoples.
Proffessor Pearce is a Foundation Professor of Tourism in the School of Business. He is currently working on attitudes of tourists to sustainability issues, including how tourists and tourism are responding/adapting to new products prompted by climate change concerns. Associated work addresses the future of tourism in tropical countries and necessarily includes climate change considerations.
Prof Prideaux is Professor of Marketing and Tourism Management and Head of the Centre for Tropical Tourism and Hospitality. He is currently working on assessing demand-side sensitivity to climate change issues and its implications for industry adaptation to climate change in tourism.
Research Collaborations and Other Activities
Professor Pearce is working with Dr Mi-hee Kang, Yeungnam University, Korea on issues in visitor loyalty (and their adaptability) to tourism settings, particularly ecotourism settings. Honours student work is also addressing responses to carbon neutral accommodation.
Researchers in the Centre of Tropical Tourism and Hospitality are working with Prof. Bob McKercher, from Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong, to identify key indicators that reflect changing consumer sentiment on travel intensions.
